Northrop Grumman, Space Systems is looking for a leader to support the Integrated National Systems Business Unit (INS BU) Strategy and Business Development objectives.  The position will be the primary interface to IC and DoD opportunities across mission management, mission control, mission data processing, tactical edge and space domain awareness and environmental sensing mission areas.  Key activities include customer engagement, market assessment, competitive assessment, product development, and with a strong emphasis on capture strategy and execution. Determining customer operational gaps and requirements and helping establish internal research and development (R&D) priorities to answer these gaps for both domestic and international customers, is crucial.  The selected individual will be responsible for leading strategic growth projects, developing and cultivating new opportunities for the INS BU through partnership with engineering, operations, and program leaders.


Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Long range strategic planning
  • Customer interaction management
  • Capture planning and execution
  • Leading proposal activities
  • Establish and manage technology planning (internal and contract R&D)
  • Planning and executing business development budget


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree and a minimum of 15 years of related experience in technical, business development and analysis, business management or military operational disciplines; or 19 years of exp in lieu of degre
  • Active US Top Secret clearance (in scope) and the ability to qualify for access to Special Access Programs (SAPs).
  • Technical IC and DoD customer knowledge in satellite planning, tasking, mission management/mission control, mission data processing, and space domain awareness
  • Experience leading teams in the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements 
  • Demonstrated success aligning teams to achieve a common goal and developing deep customer relationships through understanding and trust.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills including the ability to generate written material to communicate to customers at all levels, including senior executives.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or MA degree in relevant field
  • Active US Top Secret clearance, SCI and SAP clearances.
  • Programmatic and technical understanding of space domain awareness sensors, DoD SATCOM, space-to-ground relays and ground terminals and tactical edge CONEMP/CONOPS, 
  • Deep understanding of IC tasking, collection, planning, exploitation and dissemination tools and processes,  future satellite constellations and impact to mission enterprise systems
  • Deep understanding of DoD PPBE, Congressional budgeting, and DoD acquisition processes to include Other Transaction Authority (OTA) processes.
  • Ability to apply entrepreneurial approaches to expand space mission enterprise systems markets.
  • Ability to integrate multiple advanced technologies into mission level capabilities

Salary Range: $206,400 USD - $309,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
