Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Engineer Systems Architect - EP Delivery Pipeline Build Management Engineer to join our team in Aurora, CO.

This role includes designing and developing system architectures, and defining key capabilities and performance requirements. Defining design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer specifications. Developing thorough definition of system external interfaces. Defining system implementation approach and operational concept. Ensuring requirements are met and evaluates performance with customer.

Additional responsibilities/requirements include:

  • Build, maintain, and utilize tools for issue management, build, configuration control, deployment, monitoring, and operations.
  • Code and configure tools, assemble and integrate technology across disparate platforms.
  • Establishing and improving continuous integration (CI/CD) pipeline for automated creation and deployment of mission critical platforms. 
  • Create and control large scale software baselines for operational deployment
  • Use of Linux/Unix administration and modern popular scripting tools and enterprise level languages
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, testing, and production environments
  • Establishment and enforcement of Configuration Management (CM) practices
  • Identification of process improvement areas, especially in relation to baseline management
  • Some travel may be required
  • This position is a direct report to the IPT Manager

This requisition may be filled at a higher job grade based on the qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled as either a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer Systems Architect:  

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years relevant experience; Masters and 3 years; or PhD and 0 years. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with administering Atlassian Suite (Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence) or related tools
  • Experience with administering Jenkins or related tools
  • Experience with administering Artifactory, Nexus or related tools
  • Experience with scripting (perl, shell, groovy) and/or software development
  • Experience in Linux/Unix environments
  • Demonstrated project execution skills with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and be willing to submit to a poly

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9 years relevant experience; Masters and 7 years; or PhD and 4 years. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with administering Atlassian Suite (Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence) or related tools
  • Experience with administering Jenkins or related tools
  • Experience with administering Artifactory, Nexus or related tools
  • Experience with scripting (perl, shell, groovy) and/or software development
  • Experience in Linux/Unix environments
  • Demonstrated project execution skills with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and be willing to submit to a poly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to identify system design and operational vulnerabilities, and make recommendations to address deficient areas
  • Experience with software automation
  • Knowledge of Agile software/system development
  • Configuration Management and/or Baseline Management experience
  • Experience with virtualization, messaging techniques and associated software technology
  • Familiar with VMWare and VOrchestrator
  • Experience with large system integration
  • Experience on New Moon or legacy programs is a plus
  • Experience delivering operational mission systems
  • Experience with automated and/or on-site deployments
  • Experience with ELK and Grafana
  • Strong planning and organization skills, yet able to quickly adjust to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to work effectively with others
  • Quick learner and self-starter

Salary Range: $96,900 USD - $145,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $120,000 USD - $180,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
