In 2017, Northrop Grumman Australia was awarded a contract to perform the acquisition, construction and support of the second satellite ground station in the east of Australia. The contract will also deliver an integrated wideband SATCOM network management system to improve robustness, capacity and efficiency of the ADF SATCOM capability.

As part of our program’s maturity and growth, we are seeking a Software Engineer to drive and implement the systems engineering activities within an Agile project environment. Working closely with our US colleagues, the Senior Software Engineer will develop and guide a software development team across the full spectrum of software engineering related tasks, including a DevSecOps software environment. This will include building and testing software prototypes and products as well as integrating locally developed products with world-leading international software product lines.

This position can be based at our Fortitude Valley office in Brisbane or our Symonston Office in Canberra.

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Developing and leading a software development team

  • Establishing a Project DevSecOps software engineering environment aligned with company policy utilising our world-class integrated lab environment

  • Managing the Project CI/CD pipeline to develop and release locally produced software components

  • Leading the local software integration of world leading product lines

  • Leading and authoring tender deliverables

  • Engaging closely with the Systems Engineering Integration and Test team to meet project outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree qualified Software Engineer - Chartered Professional Engineer or ability to achieve chartered status.

  • Well-developed written, communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ideally technical experience across DevOps tools and processes, modern UI frameworks, .Net applications and testing frameworks

  • Have the ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 Defence security clearance.
