Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is hiring a Principal Software Engineer (Level 3) or Sr. Principal Software Engineer (Level 4) to join the Next Gen Polar (NGP) program based in Azusa, CA. This position will work on a team to develop the NGP Sensor Specific Processing (SSP) subsystem design as a senior software architect and developer.

  • Define SSP processing based on legacy SAGE/SESAMI and SBIRS design to utilize Next Gen FORGE Mission Data Processing Application Framework (MDPAF) and Open Architecture (OA) concepts and meet next gen requirements
  • Define test tool processing to validate MPL and SSP meets mission requirements based on legacy SAGE/SESAMI and SBIRS design to utilize next Gen FORGE MDPAF and OA concepts
  • Interpret algorithms and requirements for implementation for development of SSP and Test Tools to utilize next generation MPL and new FORGE MDPAF services and capabilities
  • Present and communicate design to development team, program leadership, and the customer

Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer (Level 3):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field & 5 years of related software engineering experience, OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field & 3 years of related experience
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a DoD Secret Clearance (US Citizenship Required)

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Engineer (Level 4):

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a DoD Secret Clearance (US Citizenship Required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with SAGE/SESAMI or SBIRS ground software
  • Software architecture and design utilizing an MBSE tool, preferably Cameo
  • Software Development utilizing C++
  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers and customers
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts
  • Excellent technical writing and team building skills
  • Familiarity with Agile and/or DevOps methodologies
  • Current DoD Secret Clearance

Salary Range: 101200 - 188300

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
