Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking an Electronic Technician to join our team of diverse and qualified individuals in Azusa, CA! This position will be on 1st shift but require off shift work during testing phases.    SUMMARYPerforms complex operations and functional testing and/or evaluation of entire electronic and/or allied systems. Work is performed under research & development, manufacturing and test conditions with minimum supervision. Will be required to work using self-inspection as the guidelines for quality work within a team environment. WORK PERFORMEDPlans methods, operations and sequences, makes initial layouts of circuit breadboards or components arrangements, and develops, under research laboratory conditions, entire electronic and allied systems. Performs complex functional and operational test of components, subsystems and system level. Troubleshoots and recommends circuit changes and established (when not specified) component requirements and circuit details, which may include miniaturization techniques,  semiconductor,  vacuum  tube  and/or  magnetic circuitry, utilizing a thorough knowledge of electronic theory, and a broad practical knowledge of the functions, capacities and limitations of electronic and allied equipment. Operates and tests the above systems,   including the making of microwave radio frequency, dielectric measurements, and millimeter wave where test procedures and standards have not been designated.• Verifies the performance and characteristics of such systems.  Integrates with allied systems when required.   Determines method of testing for functional operations; selects and sets up all required test equipment. Records and evaluates results of such tests as required. Selects, sets up and operates specialized computer controlled test equipment to functionally test, evaluate and verify special tests that may be required.  Sets up and performs functional check of purchased, or customer-furnished electronic systems, to determine whether system will integrate with other electronic and electromechanical systems.  Must demonstrate computer literacy to the extent required to support requirement.    Will be expected to perform quality inspection and acceptance test tasks.  Certification of ability to perform to the above is required and must be obtained from the quality assurance control center.  Performs work necessary to fabricate, troubleshoot and isolate malfunctions. Uses  standard  and  specialized  troubleshooting  techniques, schematic  and wire  diagrams  to locate  area  of malfunctions. Works from sketches, drawings, wiring diagrams, manufacturer's specifications, or other written and oral technical data. Makes sketches as required. May be required to assist Test Engineering in the development and on line verification of test processes and specifications. Will perform incidental operation of environmental equipment during electronic testing activities. Supports systems test personnel during test setups and post-test activities. Performs related and incidental work assignments as required. Must be able to follow exacting written and verbal instructions. May be required to train team members and new employees. Will be required to direct activities of lower level technicians. Participate in meetings and activities. Applies problem solving, communication, and organizational skills to promote the team’s effectiveness for in-process improvement. Must be capable of working on parts under magnification. Must have good manual dexterity. Must obtain required certifications necessary to perform job tasks.

Basic Qualifications: 
  • 2 years of college or trade school with a minimum of 30 units of electronics or equivalent experience
  • Eight (8) years of combined electronic, optical, and cryogenics experience or equivalent
  • Familiarity with routine diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DVM, signal generators and similar test equipment
  • Ability to read/understand schematics and diagrams
  • Knowledge of analog, digital and/or video type circuits and logic systems
  • Experience in performing electronic testing and checkout
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic systems
  • Must have flexibility to work all shifts as required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required
