This position is for an onsite Functional Manager of the Reliability Analysis Laboratory, supporting the Mission Systems Sector, in the Mechanical Analysis Section of the Mechanical Technology and Design Services department (at Baltimore, MD, located near BWI).  The manager will be responsible for both functional management and technical supervision of the Reliability Analysis Laboratory staff. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
The manager ensures that the people, processes, tools and equipment are in place to support our programs’ requests, and maintain cost, yield and schedule performance. This is a dual role manager position, involving technical responsibilities as well.  These include oversight of the laboratory and failure analysis activities for varying electronics and sensor system products.  Technical areas of proficiency include leading failure analysis and root cause and corrective action teams, familiarity with failure analysis lab equipment, developing test plans, and statistical data analysis.  The manager will also be responsible for making recommendations to program and company leadership, as well as interfacing with internal and external customers.

Additional Duties Include:

  • Staffing plans, staff performance evaluation
  • Goal planning, process implementation and improvement, roadmap development
  • Lead through positive changes, as a champion for improvement and innovation
  • Employee engagement and development will be maintained through a combination of training, employee career coaching, mentoring, identification of stretch assignments, and engagement action planning. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 9 years of professional experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 7 years of professional experience
  • Familiarity with failure analysis tools, e.g., scanning electron microscopy, focused ion beam microscopy, cross sectioning, infrared spectrometry, x-ray spectrometry, optical microscopy
  • Experience in technical leadership, program, project, or functional/people management
  • Experience and education in failure analysis, accelerated life testing, and/or product reliability.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including excellent verbal and written communication, cross organization collaboration, team engagement, and organizational skills
  • US Citizenship, with the ability to receive DoD Secret clearance (or higher)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success leading high performing teams (technical, Integrated Product Team Lead, Agile, or functional management)
  • Experience leading root cause and corrective action efforts
  • Capital equipment management, metrics and planning
  • Lab environment leadership experience
  • Experience leading process improvement, or introduction of new tools projects

Salary Range: $124,600 USD - $186,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
