Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking a Manufacturing Project Engineer or Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer for the Advanced Interconnects and Multilayer Solutions (AIMS) manufacturing cell.

AIMS is committed to the rapid development, manufacture and delivery of leading-edge discriminating products, utilizing advances in organic materials, technology and processing to meet or exceed customer expectations.

The Manufacturing Project Engineer supports and leads manufacturing projects which will facilitate the fabrication of printed wiring boards, manifolds, and backplanes for next generation RF hardware.  This position will also be responsible for leading, systematizing and sustaining manufacturing systems focused efforts in AIMS.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:

Project Engineering:

  • Providing return on investment justification for process, capital and facility improvements

  • Recommending and implementing continuous improvement efforts and projects based on the above metrics

  • Ensuring project plans and deliverables are accurately scoped, budgeted and executed through coordination and meetings with project stakeholders including leadership and technical subject matter experts (SMEs)

  • Creating and managing overall project deliverables (tasks, resources, budget and schedules); developing Statements of Work (SOW) and cost estimates, tracking project financials

  • Identifying project risks and implementing mitigations

Factory Support: 

  • Monitor capital resource loading and develop plans for capacity management

  • Model, monitor and develop projects for efficient use and improvement of floor space utilization and production work in process movement and storage

  • Leading continuous improvement efforts and using tools such as: PFMEA, 8D, 5S, Kaizen events, VSM, SMED, Visual management, DMAIC, DOE, ANOVA

Strategy Support: 

  • Documenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and best practices

  • Developing and maintaining roadmaps to document and guide area plans for growth

The chosen candidate must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment; work well in a team environment; and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This req may be filled as an Engineer (level 2) or a Principal Engineer (level 3) based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area

  • 2 years of relevant professional experience (or 0 years with a MS or PhD)

  • Project management experience in an industrial/technical environment

  • Experience working in and leading cross functional teams

  • Fluency in MS Office software applications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required.)

Basic Qualifications for a Principal:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area

  • 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with a MS or 1 year with a PhD)

  • Project management experience in an industrial/technical environment

  • Experience working in and leading cross functional teams

  • Fluency in MS Office software applications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in Industrial Engineering or Operations Engineering

  • Manufacturing project management or process engineering experience

  • Six Sigma certification (green belt or better)

  • Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system

  • Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, NX or similar)

  • Familiarity with Matlab, VBA and/or similar

  • Familiarity with Minitab software        


MANUMS


Salary Range: $71,500 USD - $107,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $88,000 USD - $132,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
