The General Manufacturing Manager 2 is responsible for the direct supervision of employees and processes in a manufacturing environment. The Manager provides direction to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies. Overall responsibilities include: driving employee efficiency, meeting product cost and schedule targets, managing the area to produce quality products, and engaging employees to achieve their highest potential.

This Manager 2 will be responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 20 – 25 represented (union) employees on 1st shift.

The Manager 2 is expected to work independently across organizations; manage the use of consumables to achieve budget targets; assign and manage employees to maximize efficiency and achieve target productive yields; implement our process improvements to improve affordability, quality, and schedule; and perform required SAP/MES transactions to manage employees.

Other Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct supervision of approximately 25 represented (union) employees in a manufacturing environment and coordinate the flow-down of job assignments and cell priorities with off-shift managers.
  • Issue job assignments and create daily status/confirmation reports including any hardware discrepancies to various support group personnel, meeting quality, delivery and cost goals for cell area.
  • Help drive and support manufacturing/engineering with process improvements, efficiencies, automation, and development of new technology opportunities.
  • Manage cell area planning and use of consumable to achieve budget and cost targets.
  • Assign and manage staff to maximize efficiency and achieve target productive yields.
  • Responsible for driving the team to achieve monthly delivery objectives for the cell, meeting KPI metrics, reporting on training requirements.
  • Participates in and assures compliance of ISO, Lean, World Class Manufacturing and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ensure 5S practices within cell areas.
  • Ability to document and standardize task and efforts.
  • Implement process improvements to improve affordability, quality and schedule.
  • Perform require SAP/MES transactions to manage personnel, planning and financials.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of professional experience; Master’s Degree with 4+ years of experience; PhD with 2+ years of experience (11+ years of work experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
  • 5 years of manufacturing, production, or engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of management/leadership experience of people and/or processes.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and production concepts.
  • Strong communication, presentation and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance (US citizenship required). 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or other STEM area.
  • Experience with SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Experience with production control and manufacturing processes.
  • Previous program or project management experience.
  • 5 or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Prior experience working in a represented (union) environment.

Salary Range: $102,900 USD - $154,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
