Northrop Grumman ITS Business Unit designs, manufactures and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration and national security space applications. The Group is leading supplier of space components that power and enable satellites of all classes, provides technical engineering services to government agencies and laboratories, and is developing exciting new satellite servicing and advanced space flight technologies.

Our Beltsville, MD location is seeking a Materials Program Manager 1 to join our team our team of qualified, diverse individuals.


  • Responsible and accountable for the strategy, planning, and execution of MRP signals content for the Operating Unit (OU).

  • Acts as a focal point for the OU for the material and production signals and coordinates cross-functionally to ensure that commitments are met, and that appropriate mitigation plans are developed and executed to address any risks related to production.

  • Develops the material strategy for long lead/inventory items.

  • Ensures that prior to execution, all elements of the material plans have complete and accurate schedules, budgets and build strategies.

  • Leads material planning execution and is accountable for resource material forecasting, schedule, risk/opportunity management, and MRP signal issue resolution.

  • Briefs the OU management on the status and issues affecting execution performance.


  • Manage MRP signal execution and resolve issues

  • Material Management strategy, demand planning, MRP maintenance, coordination w/ logistics and procurement stakeholders

  • Material risk management, including identification, and mitigation planning and execution.

  • Developing OU material strategy

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Material Management experience

  • Experience with Material Management in a fast-paced production environment with high variability and medium volume.

  • Experience with Aerospace component production processes

  • Ability to utilize excellent decision making and risk management skills to create profit and meet schedule

  • Experience with leadership, coaching and building effective teams

  • Action oriented; driven by measurable results

  • Excellent external and internal communication and presentation skills

  • Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong ability to multi-task in a challenging environment with competing priorities in a positive manner

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Salary Range: $119,600 USD - $179,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
