Explore your future and launch your career today. Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently looking for a Principal Research Scientist to work in our Promontory, UT location. Job Duties:
  • Work with and lead a small group to perform quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis and experiments using various gravimetric and volumetric methods.
  • Organize, interpret and document your data.
  • Analyze overall data for conclusions and present results to customers in the form of data reports, memos, or presentations.
  • Operate and maintain analytical equipment and supplies related to work duties.
  • Work with other members of the group in a team environment to answer rocket motor business related questions.

  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented but able to understand the big picture.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Basic computer skills and program knowledge (Word, Excel, etc.).

 Experience Requirements: 
  • General understanding of chemical analysis basics and lab operations.
  • Basic level technical writing and information exchange.
  • Basic experience in handling chemicals and waste disposal.
  • Some knowledge of standard laboratory practices and operations.
  • Must be able to qualify for and obtain a Secret clearance from DOD

Experience Preferred:
  • Enhanced understanding of wet chemical analysis including volumetric titrations, material testing techniques, and material compatibility.
  • Experience writing detailed test plans and data reports.
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of EPA and FDA regulations
  • Any experience operating standard laboratory equipment (balances, titrators, meters, basic spectroscopy).
  • Experience in related operations and knowledge. 

Education/Certifications
  • BS in Chemistry or other related field, 5 Years with BS; 3 Years with
    Masters; 0 Years with PhD
  • Position can be filled one level higher, 9 Years with BS; 7 Years with
    Masters; 4 Years with PhD
