Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Manager, Operations Execution Management 1 in Buffalo, NY to become part of the Northrop Grumman Amherst Systems team.

The Operations Execution Manager (OEM) will lead a strong integrated Operations team including Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, and Mission Assurance personnel in support of the Amherst Systems and Intra-Company (ICM) product lines in the Mission Systems Sector. The Manager will be responsible for executing, monitoring, and reporting on the progress of program performance. This includes monthly status for Operations planning and execution tasks, inputs into monthly and quarterly Business Unit reporting, and oversight of cost/schedule requirements for Operations. He/she will drive strategies to meet or exceed cost, schedule and performance objectives. This Manager will collaborate with Program and functional leaders to develop and nurture a highly trusted and engaged team that delivers on commitments and embodies “best culture”.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Serve as the Operations Lead for various programs within the Amherst Systems operating unit (OU) or for efforts associated with Intra-Company Manufacturing (ICM).
  • Responsible for leadership and coordination of the Operations team (Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain/Supplier Performance Management, Quality & Mission Excellence).
  • Act as a liaison between Amherst Systems or ICM programs and the Factory.
  • Act as the Operations Project Manager for assigned products and programs.
  • Responsible for operations cost, schedule performance and risk/opportunity management for the assigned products.
  • Ensure the products are manufactured, tested, and delivered on schedule to meet customer contract dates.
  • Oversee inputs of demands and create schedules in the MRP planning system to coordinate, forecast, and report on performance, risk, and mitigation plans to factory management.
  • Develop, review, and/or manage Capacity Plans, Corrective Actions, and Audits for the products.
  • Facilitate and /or support program meetings and provide status including presenting Operations status to site management.

This position has influence as a key interface between Operations and Program execution, so strong organizational and decision-making skills in an environment of continuous change are needed.

As well as being able to solve complex problems by evaluating information systematically and objectively which will result in effective communication, collaboration, and implementation of an operational program foundation with a diverse set of internal and external customers and suppliers. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, or other related discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree in business, engineering, or other related discipline with 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with manufacturing teams
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities as evidenced by prior experience leading a team or project 
  • Ability to manage and communicate complex projects
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Defense industry experience as Program Manager, Manufacturing/Operations Manager, Project Manager, Engineering Manager, Supply Chain Manager, or Quality Mission Excellence Manager
  • Experience/strong working knowledge of EVMS (Earned Value Management System), which includes managing projects to cost, performance, and schedule requirements.
  • Experience with MRP or SAP


Salary Range: $89,800 USD - $134,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
