Northrop Grumman’s Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division is seeking a Director of Strategic Planning 2 located in Roy, UT.
The Director of Strategic Planning will be pivotal in advancing the Sentinel program's success by shaping strategic direction and supporting key program objectives. This role will focus on identifying market opportunities, developing clear and effective communication plans, and crafting strategic roadmaps that guide the program's transition from development to full-scale production. This role will provide actionable insights to optimize investment and resource use, ensuring that modernization and sustainment efforts align with both short- and long-term goals. This individual must be able to closely partner with division, sector and enterprise development and capture strategies at all levels to inspire and facilitate informed decisions and accountability.
Primary roles and responsibilities include:
- Strategic Development and Market Analysis: Lead the development of business strategies, market assessments, and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for growth and investment.
- Messaging and Communication: Create and refine internal and external messaging strategies, collaborating with key stakeholders, including government relations and communications teams.
- Program Planning and Execution: Oversee the development and execution of strategic program plans, including modernization, sustainment, and transition strategies, to ensure cost-effective and timely project delivery.
- Scenario Modeling and Strategic Simulations: Conduct strategic modeling and “what-if” scenario planning to support decision-making and inform investment and program priorities.
- Capture and Proposal Strategy: Lead capture campaigns and develop strategic proposals to drive business growth and align with modernization initiatives.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years relevant experience
- 5+ years of formal management experience
- 3+ years experience with the missile defense / nuclear enterprise mission and customer set.
- 3+ years experience working through the Department of Defense acquisition processes.
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Must have an active and current DoD Secret clearance and be special access clearable
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in business, STEM or related field and a minimum of 15 years relevant experience
- Prior relevant experience working with the US Government
- Experience related to ICBM technologies and products
- Experience with developing and maintaining effective internal and external business relationships, including with customer decision-makers and industry partners.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary strategic planning, capture and/or business development activities
- Strong verbal communications skills and prior experience briefing executives
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to foster employee learning and sense of belonging, particularly in a geographically dispersed team environment.
- Able to analyze and synthesize business, programmatic and technical challenges into a cohesive picture
- Demonstrable understanding of all contract types (non-IDIQ, IDIQ - single or multiple award contracts), as well as payment types (e.g., FFP, T&M, cost plus).
- Experience developing and leading capture campaigns for enterprise priority franchises
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
