Job Summary

Northrop Grumman Chandler Launch Vehicles is looking for a motivated Engineering Lead to join our engineering team.  The Electrical Engineering lead will work with the Operations and Product managers to coordinate and support the day to day activities of the engineering team.  The team supports all aspects of assembly, test, and production activities of a wide range of avionics electronic assembly products. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with product manager and functional manger to determine day to day activities the team needs to support. Escalate and analyze potential roadblocks to testing schedules.
  • Communicate with other Engineering disciplines to support design change and efficiency improvements.
  • Motivates team, actively, effectively participates and contributes in a positive manner.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers in the Electrical Engineering, and test standards.
  • Makes an extra effort to provide quality internal and external customer service
  • Work with the engineering team to identify causes of problems, and develop solutions.
  • Coordinate and lead Engineers and Technicians performing activities such as, test, maintenance, troubleshooting, and test data review of electronic avionics hardware and test systems.
  • Hands-on qualification testing, characterization testing, and evaluation/validation of electronic hardware designs.
  • Based on specific stated objectives, performs analysis, or test of one or more complex designs, components, or functional systems of company products.
  • Create, edit, review, and maintain test procedures utilized during manufacturing and test operations for correctness and completeness against hardware and Program requirements, configuration, and component changes and modifications.
  • Support the maintenance and upgrading of Electrical Test Support Equipment and associated network equipment
  • Troubleshoot, document, and disposition flight and test equipment hardware and software discrepancies and pursue root cause and corrective actions
  • Evaluating and implementing Lean solutions to decrease cycle times

Technical Skills

-     Understanding and application of company electrical engineering technical standards.

  • Broad technical understanding and working knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Solid understanding of digital and analog device types and their functionality
  • Some programming knowledge.

-     Ability to perform circuit analysis and troubleshooting.

  • Perform data analysis to identify trends that may indicate poor part performance or degradation.

Basic Qualifications:

Role may be filled at a dual level II or III

Level II - Requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and two (2) years of related experience. or a MS Degree

Level III - Requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and Five (5) years of related experience. or a MS Degree and 3 years experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as Technical lead or other similar leadership role with team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Experience working on space systems is a plus.
  • Experience working on hands on in a manufacturing environment
  • Problem-solving experience in a team environment
  • Interest in mentoring/teaching/growing junior engineers
  • Ability to multi-task and apply good time management

Note: A higher level may be considered depending on the experience


Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $106,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
