Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for an experienced Manager of Programs, M3, to join the Minotaur Program team within the Launch Vehicles business unit located in Chandler, AZ. 

The Minotaur Program provides space launch services to the US Space Force and other DoD customers.  This position reports to the LV Chief Engineer and works in concert with Minotaur Program team to support the entire Minotaur portfolio of different launch vehicle configurations. Most Minotaur engineering efforts occur in Chandler, AZ; launch activities occur at various federal launch sites in the United States.

Role Description & Responsibilities:

You support program execution including ongoing development activities, production, test, and flight operations for the Minotaur program. You support the LV Chief Engineer in the technical oversight of the Minotaur program and ensure proper allocation and coordination of engineering resources through an IPT structure. You will co-lead the development and execution of technical reviews. You will partner with IPT leads to achieve efficient, effective, and innovative engineering solutions.  You will ensure subsystem and supporting technology development achieves program success and look for opportunities to leverage common design and products.

  • Lead the team to 100% mission success.

  • Support Program Management team with broad technical experience and down-and-in technical guidance to technical and operations teams.

  • Maintain working relationships with the Customer, providing timely communication and engaging to resolve technical questions posed by the Customer.

  • Guide teams preparing for flight operations with rapid review of change engineering, analysis, and test results.

  • Deliver quick and thorough resolution of non-conformances and other challenges that might arise, including leading failure investigations and presentation of findings to internal and customer review boards.

  • Bring mature engineering leadership to the coordination and performance of internal reviews like ERB, CCB, IFRR and design reviews.

  • Support flight operations at the Launch Site.

  • Ensure that designs and hardware builds meet all internal and Customer requirements, especially across engineering discipline boundaries. Provide justification and adjudicate through proper boards any deviations or waivers to such requirements.

  • Guide and make significant contributions to the strategic development of the Minotaur program.

  • Perform other duties, as necessary, commensurate with the role of Chief Engineer.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a BS degree in Engineering and nine (9) years of related experience; Masters degree plus seven (7) years of related experience.

Position is located Chandler, AZ and requires 100% on-site support.

Familiarity with LV engineering practices and command media.

Technical leadership experience or previous Lead Engineer experience. 

Experience with integrated system management and broad technical oversight.

Well-versed, skilled and disciplined in system engineering processes.

U.S Citizenship.

Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Ability to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with the space launch services and vehicles.

Experience with tactical execution of field operations.

Established relationships with users of Minotaur Launch Services.


Salary Range: $147,700 USD - $221,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
