Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.

Northrop Mission systems is looking for a motivated Cyber Operator 2 to work in a challenging field for a program requiring 24/7/365 support. This program is in Chantilly, VA.

The individual must demonstrate an energetic approach to accomplishing tasks and exhibiting composure when working with external partners and team members.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform Tier 1 and possibly Tier 2 trouble shooting support
  • Participate in new installations, testing and special needs projects as needed
  • Utilize established operating procedures to collect, store, track, and trend report performance metrics
  • Generate daily system reports to be submitted at the end of each day
  • Observe equipment and system software for messages or error indicators
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed
  • Adhere to strict Information System security guidelines in all cases
  • Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions
  • Must be willing to carry a pager
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, weekends, and support on-call status
  • Perform CM status accounting by identifying and maintaining the historical configuration with version control of documentation
  • Track through CM audits of all version documentation problems and version changes in documents and report changes and configuration
  • Support audits to verify that designs meet requirement baselines
  • Perform Configuration Management Plan modifications and version updates
  • Create and submit for review configuration management templates and project management artifacts
  • Maintain Configuration item repositories
  • Formulate or review proposed changes
  • Track and document all Requests for Change
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to verify that Requests for Change documenting changes are ready for board review and disposition
  • Work with PMs to resolve issues and help define needs for change requests that could impede board approval
  • Facilitate board meetings which may include sending email notifications to stakeholders, creating agendas, tracking action items, and preparing minutes
  • Coordinate modification records for management control
  • Ensure that customer requirements are implemented, and reviews change accounting activity to ensure compliance with configuration management policies
  • Assist with hardware and software inventory control
  • Schedule Management
  • Validate that each change request has met all the appropriate requirements before board submission

The candidate will also support group customer management in organizing executive level meetings and delivering executive level reports. Meeting preparation includes developing and coordinating the agendas, coordinating, and compiling briefing material, facilitating the conduct of the meeting, writing minutes, capturing, and tracking action items. Extensive coordination, continuous communication, and flexibility are essential program support. This is a unique opportunity to learn and grow in an exciting field.

Candidate must possess and active TS/SCI. Must be willing to obtain a polygraph if program need arises.

  • Must be able to lift equipment containers weighing 50lbs
  • Must be able to climb a ladder up to two stories in height
  • Aptitude to learn new computer applications
  • Familiarity with using Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Basic skill for operating computers such as saving, moving, and storing data files

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must possess or be willing to possess an active DoD 8570 certification: Security +

Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
