Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Principal Project Management (OPM) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Charlottesville, VA and will report to the Manager of Operations Project Management.

This position will be responsible for performing various duties on assigned programs, which include, but are not limited to the following:

• Oversees and manages the operational aspects of proposed and ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and operations management.

• Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.

• Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.

• Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, operations management and customers.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree plus 6 years (or Master’s degree plus 4 year) of progressive experience in manufacturing, engineering, and/or program/project management.

• Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities as evidenced by prior experience leading a team or project in a production environment.

• Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) or Control Account Management (CAM) techniques, which includes program cost and schedule management.

• Ability to develop solutions to complex problems requiring the use of ingenuity, creativity, and participation of internal and/or external personnel & teams.

• Strong communications skills, both verbal and written, interpersonal skills and good problem solving mindset.

• Ability to effectively communicate with internal customers.

• Ability to collaborate in a team environment.

• Ability to compose materials such as detailed reports, work-related manuals, publications.

• U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management, Business Administration, Communications or other related field.
• Demonstrated experience as an OPM, project manager or engineering program manager in leading a team of engineering and/or production personnel in military grade product manufacturing or repair.

• Proficiency in Risk and Opportunity management

• Experience with basis of estimates, proposal generation and EAC development.

• PMP Certification

• U.S. citizenship with an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.


Salary Range: 72400 - 108600

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
