Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector seeking a Sr. Principal Project Management professional to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Charlottesville, VA.

The OPM oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, operations management and customers.

This position will be responsible for performing various duties on assigned programs, which include, but are not limited to the following:

•Acting as the primary liaison between Operations and the Program Manager (PM)/Systems Engineering Integration and Test lead (SEIT) with regards to assigned project or project area.
•Working with the PM/SEIT and Engineering, Manufacturing & Logistics (EM&L) leads to ensure products can be efficiently manufactured by the manufacturing team, and that the production is consistent with existing tools and techniques
•CAM (Control Account Manager) managing Earned Value, including planning and monitoring assigned projects using standard project monitoring techniques and keeping EM&L management updated on issues impacting the manufacturing quality, cost and schedule performance
•Maintaining an accurate Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) ensuring alignment with project master schedule
•Providing roll-up status of manufacturing activities to the PM/SEIT as input to the master schedule for the overall program
Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with PM/SEIT
•Resolving scheduling conflicts with PM/SEIT and helping determine best way forward when issues or delays cause for re-planning of activities 

•Achieving targeted cost and schedule requirements

•Working with the PM/SEIT to ensure on time delivery of engineering and design information to manufacturing to meet production quality, cost and schedule

•Leading change control for the products to resolve issues/defects in production quickly and effectively including working with Process Team Leaders to resolve out-of-cycle scenarios in a timely manner
•Working with Global Supply Chain Management (GSC) to ensure technical information is accurate and timely to and from vendors, and expediting material issues and receipts
•Supporting required activities, including Mission Assurance inspections, to ensure compliance with provided requirements and delivery dates for production to meet customer delivery of final product
•Coordinating and leading any customer witnessed hardware test/inspection activities

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Project Management: 
•Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, engineering, and/or program management. (8 years with a Masters)
•Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities as evidenced by prior experience leading a team or project in a production environment.
•Ability to develop solutions to complex problems requiring the use of ingenuity, creativity, and participation of internal and/or external personnel & teams.
•Proficiency with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques, which includes program cost and schedule management.

•Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities as evidenced by prior experience leading a team or project in a production environment.
•Strong communications skills, both verbal and written, interpersonal skills and good problem solving mindset.
•Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
•Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
•Ability to compose materials such as detailed reports, work-related manuals, publications.

•U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications: 
•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management, Business Administration, Communications or other related field
•Demonstrated experience as an OPM, project manager, program manager or systems engineering integration and test engineer in leading a team of engineering and/or manufacturing personnel in military grade product development, production or repair.
•Proficiency in Risk and Opportunity management
•Experience with basis of estimates, proposal generation and EAC development.
•PMP Certification

• Experience interpreting engineering drawings


Salary Range: 89800 - 134600

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
