Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Manufacturing Quality Analyst 2 for Charlottesville, VA

  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product – focus on design for quality process implementations
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment
  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction
  • Leads Quality Action Team(s) in supported production areas
  • Leads quality related investigations and process improvement campaigns in assigned production area(s)
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements
  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies
  • May be required to travel to support vendor source inspections and/or auditing

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of quality work experience; or master’s and 1+ years of quality work experience.  Note: an additional 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret electrical and mechanical design documents, internal and external specifications, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Drawing interpretation and ANSI Y14.5 requirements experience
  • Able to identify and utilize appropriate metrology tools based on part characteristics and technical requirements
  • Related experience in the following processes: machining, sheet metal, welding, finishing, mechanical assembly
  • Experience working in a ISO 9001: 2015 or AS9100 Quality Management System
  • Experience with nonconformance and Corrective Action Processes
  • Experience conveying technical information (both written and verbal)
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance (not required for initial hire)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action methods
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles
  • PCDMIS CMM programming experience.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T dimensioning practices.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Certification applicable to welding processes
  • Additive Manufacturing experience
  • Quality related experience in the following processes: machining, sheet metal, welding, finishing, mechanical assembly
  • Training in LEAN, Six Sigma, and CI methodologies, Certified Green or Black Belt.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 and internal auditing
  • Experience in a DoD Manufacturing environment.

Salary Range: $58,800 USD - $88,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
