The primary purpose of this role is too is to ensure NGUKL compliance to Environmental legislative requirements including but not limited to Net Zero, recycling, diversion of waste to landfill, Carbon footprint & GHG reduction and maintaining the ISO 14001 Environmental management system in line with EHS Framework and business/customer requirements.   Maintaining an auditing schedule to cover all clauses of the ISO 14001 over three years covering the whole of NGUKL.    Ensure that all global, national goals, targets and objectives are aligned and enforced to achieve their aim in the specified timeframe.  Be the environmental champion with their direct report for all green matters and be an advisory voice to the UK NG Green team.  Be the liaison between ES and to the other departments for advice, data collation etc. Including all matters sustainability with the link to corporate social responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

The main tasks and responsibilities of this job are as follows:

  • Ensure legal compliance to all relevant Environmental legislation and that documented within the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Ensure all government schemes are strictly adhered to in the specified timely manner like ESOS, SECR. PM44 and subsequent actions completed in line with the business objectives.
  • Environmental Waste management in line with the EMS, ensuring compliance and due diligence by checking suppliers waste licenses, Waste notes, SIC Codes etc.
  • Create a collective NGUKL Waste Matrices
  • Ensure all Hazardous waste is identified, controlled and disposed of professionally and the relevant documentation recorded. 
  • All WEEE and ITAR Waste is stored, managed and released via professional approved suppliers
  • Ensure that the Environmental Management System (EMS) is contributed to and maintained by following the process improvement cycle of continuous improvement via the model - Plan, Do, Check & Act.
  • Ensure all Global, National goals targets and objectives are aligned and enforced to achieve their aim in the specified timeframe.   Ensure all key areas like the reduction of GHG, Carbon footprint, Diversion of waste to landfill and recycling.
  • All key projects are championed, enforced and completed in the specified timeframe like CRP, Net Zero, and Green energy across NGUKL Sites etc.
  • Ensure that all customer, stakeholder environmental requirements are achieved.
  • Capture the Environmental Data from Landlords, agents, reading meters, logging into BMS for downloads and compiling into professional management reports as per EMS, Net Zero, CRP projects.
  • Ensure each year all data is compiled and into a specified report for use and attachment to the Companies financial report.On request from the US all UK EMS Data is compiled via the specified US templates and fed into the global data system in a timely and effective manner.Liaison with the Procurement / Programme managers from a Vehicle perspective to reduce emissions and move towards a green fleet via hybrids, electric vehicles.  Ensure the vehicle infrastructure is established on our NG Sites.

General Responsibilities

  • Be the environmental Champion across NGUKL and Green Team.
  • Provide Environmental training to sites, EHS POC and their environmental requirements.
  • Ensure info-graphics, dashboards, slidedecks are completed in a timely accurate manner and be able to explain the data’s circumstances and actions.
  • Ensure all customer tender interaction is surpassed and addressed at high level with the use of US global strategies.
  • To adhere to the terms and conditions laid down in the employee contract or subsequent variations to contract, the NORTHROP GRUMMAN UK LIMITED Staff Handbook and the Health and Safety Policy.
  • To follow, and where appropriate improve, the Environmental processes laid down in the NORTHROP GRUMMAN UK LIMITED EHS Framework.
  • To adhere to the Company Security Instructions.

Person Specification

To fulfil the requirements of this job, the post-holder must have the following;

  • Environmental qualification (Diploma, Degree, Masters)
  • Be a senior member of a professional Environmental body (IEMA)
  • Environmental experience of EMS, Net Zero, Carbon Reduction Plans, GHG, ISO 14001
  • Environmental Auditing qualification (ISO 14001 Internal External auditor) 
  • Skilled user of the following software; Windows-Excel (Pivot tables & V Lookup), Word, PowerPoint.
  • Must have a can-do attitude and be willing to go the extra mile to succeed
