About Your Opportunity:

The Northrop Grumman Communications team in the UK is looking for a savvy and strategic Communications specialist. You’ll develop and deploy integrated, innovative employee and external communications that highlight our people, culture and capabilities.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support Northrop Grumman’s National Security Solutions (NSS) business in the UK, including Cyber & Intelligence and Defence, to develop an integrated communications plan (employee and external) and manage NSS employee communications content and channels
  • Develop and manage an integrated communications calendar, ensuring appropriate awareness and engagement from UK and U.S. Communications teams; partner with and serve as a liaison between UK and U.S. Communications teams
  • Serve as a liaison with Mission Systems Europe subsidiaries to support communications with these employees
  • Design, implement and measure dynamic integrated communications that support business priorities and talent acquisition
  • Proactively identify profile raising opportunities (e.g., roundtables and panel discussions) to support NSS leaders in thought leadership; partner with subject matter experts to develop speeches and materials for executives
  • Apply user experience practices in all communications; serve as a translator and provide clear, concise storytelling to explain complex concepts
  • Collect and analyze data, make recommendations to improve our approach and the results of future communications, events and activities
  • Inform and inspire our employees; build awareness among those who have yet to join us (employee and external communications)
  • Help create stronger content development and channel delivery practices
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships and coordinate across organisations and sectors

Work location is in Cheltenham or London; hybrid working is permitted. Travel to other Northrop Grumman offices will be required periodically.

Your Experience:

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Experience working within a multi-functional Communications team with a particular focus on employee communications
  • Experience leading, developing and executing multi-channel communications strategies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry or working in technology, defence, aerospace or automotive industry
  • Experience establishing and advancing an organisation’s brand
  • Experience in strategic or digital communications, journalism, marketing, public relations
  • Experience with social media channels, audiences and practices for communications campaigns


UK travel is required to support other Northrop Grumman sites and perform role duties, attend meetings and conferences and undertake project activities as and when required. Occasional international travel.
