Job Description

Are you a Project Support Officer who wants to join a projects team within an evolving and dynamic organisation?

The role of the Project Support Officer is to work within specified account areas to provide support and help define ways of working within finance, governance and any other adhoc tasks.

This is an operational role, which requires a basic understanding of project management tools and techniques. Throughout the duration of this role you would be expected to gain -an understanding of the customer’s domain in order to understand and provide relevant assistance to the Delivery Team.  As a Project Support Officer you will work on your own with support from the Senior PO.

The role will include and are not limited to: Communication and expectation management of stakeholders. Ability to manipulate and interact with core Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Updating financial trackers and highlighting anomalies Support updating project / account shared areas to ensure consistencies Booking and co-ordinating calendars for key business meetings Support with expenses for the wider team Support with pushing things through processes Support with contract renewals Support with schedule ones for subcontractors Support with timesheet and holiday requests Support with financial information – providing spend information where finance don’t need to

We are looking for somebody

  • With experience in a similar role
  • Experience working in a Defence environment or similar
  • Who is be able to obtain and hold UK Government clearances
  • Who has a basic understanding of the project lifecycle and understanding what each phase requires in the context of the customer’s domain in order to provide support the delivery team.
  • Has the ability to multi-task across various functions and contexts.
  • Has the ability to interact with key stakeholders, and communicate effectively.
  • Has a basic understanding and knowledge of the common tools (MS Office suite, Confluence, Jira, SharePoint, MS Teams, Webex etc) and methodologies (Agile, Lean, Scrum etc).
  • Has a basic understanding of contracting vehicles e.g. Fixed Price and T&M Contracts.
  • Has a basic understanding of the internal commercial and finance processes.
  • Has a basic understanding of risk management (RAID).
  • Support timely reporting procedures in accordance with a project's Business Rhythms and associated metrics.
  • Encourage and facilitate continuous improvement within the delivery framework.
  • Share best practice.
