Peraton is seeking a motivated professional to join our team as a Principal Network and Computer System Administrator in the NetOps Branch on Team “Cloud OS.” This position is in support of a recent award / United States Military Entrance Processing Command, (MEPCOM). This position will be located in Northern Chicago, Illinois.
Duties:
  • Provides ongoing network support, addresses availability issues, overcomes performance problems
  • Designs, installs, maintains and coordinates the use of network systems
  • Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators and software developers
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network
  • Ensure Network Policies and Procedures are compliant
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor network products
  • Makes recommendations to purchase network hardware and software
  • Coordinates installation and provides backup recovery
  • Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency
  • Additional support may include setting up administrator and service network;
    •      Maintaining system documentation
    •      Topology drawings;
  • Supports project teams engaged in the design, implementation and modification of Networks
  • Prepares project execution plan and identifies appropriate technical and business resources as needed
  • Ensures projects are completed (schedule, budget, technical requirements)
  • Keeps current on advances in the field of Networks
  • Provides technical and analytical network guidance to projects

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years as a  Systems Administrator
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in computer and information system management
  • Current IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security + CE or Network + CE, CCNA Security, SSCP, GSEC)
  • Knowledge and experience with Intel based Windows, UNIX and EC2
  • Knowledge and experience supporting virtualization, (Servers, Clients, Hypervisors, etc.)
  • Must have a recent National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation and the ability to pass additional background investigations
  • Ability to Obtain and Maintain a higher level clearance if required by the customer (i.e. Confidential, Secret, Top Secret).  US Citizenship required. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Possess an Active Confidential or higher security clearance
  • Minimum of 7 years experience as a Lead System Administrator
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in computer and information system management
  • Experience supporting a DoD customer’s Information Technology environment (System Administrator, Operations, Maintenance, Information Assurance, etc.)
  • Additional current CompTIA certifications in addition to the basic requirement
  • Redhat Linux experience and certification
  • Knowledge and experience with Cloud Computing and/or cloud architectures
  • Microsoft Azure/AWS Administrator Certification
  • Knowledge and experience with ITIL v4
