Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Industrial Engineer that will be located in Clearfield, UT.

The qualified applicant will join a cohort of employees re-entering the workforce after a career break of at least two years. This cohort will receive special on-boarding designed to provide an effective re-entry into the workforce. iReturn℠ provides experienced professionals with a 12-week "returnship" to prepare for a full-time career in one of several fields at Northrop Grumman through training, professional development, and networking opportunities. Qualified applicants will join a cohort of employees returning to the workforce after a two-year career break for this "returnship" program that focuses on giving you a seamless transition back into the workforce. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible for full-time roles with the company.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate continuous improvement events to develop, define and improve processes in the forming and finishing of aircraft composite structures
  • Analyze various manufacturing processes for opportunities to minimize scrap, reduce cost, increase capacity and optimize schedule.
  • Provide support to the manufacturing floor by working proactively with cross-functional teams to understand frontline problems and implement cost-saving, impactful solutions.
  • Work with program leadership to assess what-if scenarios and guide long-term strategic decision making across several different programs.
  • Generate metrics and conducts studies pertaining to efficiency, cycle times, work-in-progress, manpower, cost performance, and product delivery.
  • Partner with manufacturing management to develop and track recovery plans that instill confidence with program management and customers, even through unforeseen challenges.
  • Apply systems thinking in the development of metrics to improve product flow from the release of raw materials through product delivery.
  • Develop and summarize analyses for the acquisition, maintenance & enhancement of capital assets and equipment. Provides capacity planning, rate tool analyses, and facility layouts to ensure the ongoing success of composite operations. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • A career break of at least two years
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related technical field with a minimum 2 years of related engineering experience (4 additional years of related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree)
  • Ability to work on an assembly floor 
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Strong expertise using the full suite of Microsoft Office Tools
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools in Kaizen, Toyota Production lean principles
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)

Salary Range: $64,600 USD - $64,640 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
