Principal / Senior Principal Laser Tracker Quality Engineer

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Laser Tracker Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Clearfield, Utah facility. Our team develops and implements complex dimensional inspection processes utilizing Leica laser tracker inspection systems. We support multiple prime contractors for military and commercial programs.

Responsibilities:

• Works with and leads a team of laser tracker technicians within our quality assurance inspection group
• Promptly responds to technical issues that arise on the production floor utilizing work instructions, design documents, and specifications
• Clarifies work instructions to engineering and technicians as needed
• Documents issues and disseminates information to engineering for incorporation into future releases
• Resolves issues by collaborating with other resource groups as needed
• Gets involved in challenging MRB repairs and special processes to assist technicians as needed
• Develop and implement laser tracker inspection techniques, including training of laser tracker technicians
• Write inspection setup sheets, procedures, detailed work instructions and reports
• Perform inspections of various composite structures in support of development, production startup, MRB, or other activities
• Assist with instrument & system calibrations; support internal and external audits
• Read and interpret blueprint and engineering drawings and be able to document non-conformances

Travel is estimated to be less than 10% to support other sites as required. This role is day shift on our 9/80 schedule, which gives you every other Friday to pursue passions outside the office. You may be required to work on off-Fridays if required to meet business needs.

This position may be filled at the Principal or Senior Principal level depending on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline and 5+ years of engineering work experience OR Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3+ years of engineering work experience
• Process or manufacturing engineering experience
• Active DoD Secret clearance within 5 ½ years of last investigation
• Ability to acquire a special program access clearance

Senior Principal

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 9+ years of engineering work experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM and 7+ years of engineering work experience
• Process or manufacturing engineering experience
• Active DoD Secret clearance within 5 ½ years of last investigation
• Ability to acquire a special program access clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with laser tracker systems
• Experience analyzing data quantitatively
• Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, aviation or inspection
• Experience with composites
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Knowledge of aerospace specifications and requirements
• Preference will be given to individuals already accessed to Special Access Programs

Salary Range: $79,700 USD - $119,500 USD

Salary Range 2: $98,700 USD - $148,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
