Northrop Grumman is currently recruiting for a Principal / Senior Principal Industrial Engineer to work in our Aerospace Structures organization at any of our manufacturing sites located in Clearfield, Utah, Iuka Mississippi, or Dayton, Ohio.

The successful candidate will be part of our Industrial Engineering team.  We use the Toyota Production System and the Shingo Model as our standard for lean manufacturing. The team works with operations and support teams to eliminate waste, improve throughput and reduce cycle times.

The successful candidate will utilize and apply their technical skills to help lead sustainable change in order to achieve strategic objectives; they will help in the development creating Lean Standard Work, with specific emphasis on Root Cause Problem Solving and preventative countermeasures; they will also have many opportunities to influence individuals and organizations at all levels of the company, so communication and presentation skills are imperative.

Responsibilities may include the following:

  • Positively impact the financial bottom line by working with other engineering and non-engineering disciplines and departments to eliminate waste and improve processes.
  • Solve problems related to product and information flow on the manufacturing floor and back office.
  • Work collaboratively across disciplines to develop solutions with an emphasis on timeliness and execution.
  • Design and implement processes to improve efficiency and flow throughout the factory.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement events to develop, define and improve processes in the forming and finishing of aircraft composite structures.
  • Production performance metrics and analysis.
  • Special studies and projects.
  • Staffing models.
  • Production readiness assessments.
  • Facilities and workplace design.
  • Effective communication at all levels of the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Industrial Engineer

  • Experience with continuous improvement tools in Kaizen, Toyota Production lean principals.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering plus 5 years’ experience: in Lieu of degree, 9 years’ experience
  • Experience with methods, program planning, cost analysis and scheduling
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment for any kind of industry
  • Enjoys driving change

Sr. Principal Industrial Engineer

  • Experience with continuous improvement tools in Kaizen, Toyota Production lean principals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering plus 9 years’ experience: In lieu of degree, 13 years’ experience, (this must include 5 years of management experience)
  • Experience with methods, program planning, cost analysis and scheduling
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment for any kind of industry
  • Enjoys driving change

Note: The pay ranges posted below reflect the full pay ranges for the Principal and Sr. Principal Industrial Engineer positions across all 3 possible locations. The pay ranges are slightly different based on geographical location.

Salary Range: $75,400 USD - $125,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $93,500 USD - $155,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
