Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems in Utah has an opening for an Operations Material Manager supporting material requirements for rocket motor manufacturing operations.  Selected candidate oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between operations, production planning, material planning, and other functional teams. This position will be responsible for managing material requirements for a specific area of operations. The position will need to work closely with operations value stream to understand schedules and requirements. The position will be expected to be proactive to ensure that material requirements have been properly communicated to material planners and procurement functions and facilitate any needs for expediting material requirements.  The position will be responsible to assess material issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and operations goals and objectives. The position will be expected to develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with production planning, material planning, and functional area leaders. Must be able to multitask in a high paced, manufacturing environment.  A successful candidate has experience taking complex problems and simplifying solutions. Regularly interface with high level leadership and has experience holding stakeholders accountable.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Mitigate real or potential material shortages to support high-rate production for responsible rocket motor manufacturing value stream
  • Be the primary point of contact to resolve any problems related to material shortages and requirements for assigned operations area
  • Support root cause and corrective action activities as necessary to rectify and improve processes to ensure material availability for Operations
  • Leads by using data and implementing visual management techniques
  • Act as systems, tools, & data mining subject matter expert to prepare material readiness and action plans
  • Operations, Logistics and Planning Management

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 15 years experience in Supply Chain Management, Demand Management, Project Management, or Program Integration/Execution with bachelor’s or similar; OR 13 years with masters.  4 additional years of experience can be substituted for the bachelors degree.
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office tool suite; the ability to create, manage, and manipulate the tools, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team
  • Experience interfacing cross-functionally with all levels of employees and leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • APICS, PMI, or ASQ Certification
  • Master’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Project Management or Engineering
  • Experience with Scheduling ERP or MRP systems
  • Experience in managing manufacturing processes, productivity, capacity, and efficiency measurements
  • Experience in the Aerospace/Defense Industry managing and working with materials used in rocket motor manufacturing

Salary Range: $111,400 USD - $167,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
