What you’ll get to do:

Successful candidates for the Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer will work in a technical role in Colorado Springs, CO.  This role is responsible for supporting the modeling and simulation efforts for the Business Development Space Surveillance and Environmental Intelligence portfolio of programs and new business opportunities within the Space Systems Sector.

The Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer will be responsible for modeling Concept of Operations and Design Reference Missions in support of a ground based weapon sensors, data, and capabilities that support the Space Domain Awareness Enterprise, Missile Warning/Missile Defense, and other associated next generation ground based radar capabilities.  A successful Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer will have experience in space mission modeling and simulation using tools such as Matlab, Ansys AGI STK, and other COTS-based tools for analyzing and visualizing complex systems in the context of a mission.  The Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer will perform analyses of weapon sensor capabilities under various mission scenarios that meet operational constraints, satisfy ground radar and mission requirements and optimize mission utility. 

The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.  The Systems Modeling and Simulation support engineer is responsible for helping drive business development capture strategy, campaigns, product line application, and strategic direction and execution of all aspects of the Modeling and Simulation engineering within the Space Surveillance and Environmental Intelligence (SSEI), Operating Unit (OU) Business Development and Strategy activities.

Minimal travel is expected. This position will be based in our Colorado Springs airport facility.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of applicable experience; or 0 years’ experience with a Master’s degree.
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with a current or active DoD Secret level clearance, with TS SCI eligibility.
  • Familiarity with AGI STK and associated toolkits, or Matlab for mission analysis and mod/sim
  • Experience in systems engineering, development, integration, and test  
  • Good communication and presentation skills 

Preferred Experience (one or more areas desired):

  • Knowledge of various mission analysis techniques and software tools.
  • Background working software systems engineering.
  • Domain Mission familiarity in Space Domain Awareness, Ground Based Radars, or Missile Warning/Missile Defense

Salary Range: 74200 - 111400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
