The Missile Defense Solutions (MDS) Business Unit (BU) Engineering organization pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineering Manager 2 based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

What You’ll get to Do:

The Systems Engineering Manager 2 will manage an on-site team providing varied engineering support to a BU program in Colorado Springs, CO. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a team of 10+ direct reports
  • Fulfilling functional manager roles to help foster and maintain high levels of engagement among their own team
  • Performing functional manager roles and responsibilities (i.e. staffing, recruiting, timecard approval, performance reviews, etc.)
  • Support Career Development of current talent among team members
  • Interact with internal program leadership and customers on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations and provide guidance and oversight to the employees
  • An 80% role on our BU program in Colorado Springs

The successful candidate must be entrepreneurial, a self-starter and have the ability to challenge the status quo. This individual must be customer-focused with proven leadership and excellent communication skills as well as a leader in change management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance is required
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of experience in leadership and/or management roles.  An MS degree may be considered in lieu of 2 required years of experience.
  • Experience with Workday processes
  • Experience in managing teams with direct reports in multiple locations
  • System Test and Verification Experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • TS clearance preferred
  • Project management experience
  • C2BMC program experience

Salary Range: 130500 - 195700

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
