Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Missile Defense Systems (MDS) sector has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

  

The selected Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer will support IRADs to develop Models, Simulations, and Analysis of existing and new military systems. The selected Software Engineer will also be responsible for the software design and development of simulations and simulation models.

Essential Functions:  

  • Designing and developing software to model various missile and air defense capabilities and concepts.
  • Develop software to enhance simulation capabilities.
  • Drive software design, working with senior engineers, when implementing new features.
  • Create automated unit tests to ensure written software meets requirements.
  • Work with product owners and scrum masters to determine requirement scope.
  • Document bugs and enhancements using bug-tracking tools.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Software Engineer or a Principal Software Engineer level.

BQs for a Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related experience.
  • Experience developing software in C++.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD secret level.

BQs for a Principal Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience.
  • Experience developing software in C++.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD secret level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
  • Utilization of debugging tools and testing mechanisms. 
  • Experience working in an Agile Software Development project 
  • Experience using Configuration Management systems for software 
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS 
  • Experience with CMake 
  • Experience with Git 
  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret or Top-Secret security clearance.

Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
