The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Our Colorado Springs team is growing and adding to their Sustainment and Modernization of Radar Sensors (SMORS) program as a Software Engineer. This position will focus on the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) Precision Acquisition Vehicle Entry (PAVE) Phased Array Warning System (PAWS) (BPP) System Integration Laboratory (SIL). This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities:

  • Working as a member of an Agile Development Team to provide engineering solutions, System/software version releases, SW tool enhancements, as well as scrum ceremonies such as planning, refinement, demonstrations and retrospectives.

  • Provide System/Software configuration analysis to address cyber security releases.

  • Rapid software defect root cause analysis and solution development.

  • Position will require up to 25% travel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 0-2 years of professional experience; or a Master’s degree in a related discipline.

  • Candidate must have hands-on development experience for Object Oriented/C/C++ applications in a UNIX/Linux platform environment.

  • Experienced with performing software analysis with respect to supportability and operability.

  • Position requires U.S. Citizenship

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Missile Defense, Missile Warning and Space Situational Awareness missions.

  • Familiarity with mission level processing of phased array radars such as signal processor, multi target trackers, and scheduling.

  • Experience with SW development tools to include task tracking, software repositories, continuous integration and automation.

  • Familiarity with Agile development processes to include DevOps processes, test driven development, as well as have good written and communication skills.

  • Familiarity or experience with UML, and/or SYSML.


Salary Range: $61,900 USD - $92,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
