Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Assembler to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals, and be a part of Payload and Ground Systems, Space Components division in our Commerce, CA, facility. Commerce is the leading supplier of pressure vessels and tank hardware to the aerospace industry.

Role and Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on mechanical assemblies and subassemblies utilizing complex small part fit-up welding fixtures and larger aluminum weld fixtures to close-out pressure tanks in the department.  Works from welding assembly instructions and mechanical drawings, while following the sequential steps per work order planning documents. Utilizes hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments to ensure proper product fit-up.  Makes continuity checks on work in process production pieces and generates necessary document. May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications. May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions. This position is for 1st Shift.

Basic Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 3+ years manufacturing assembly experience

  • Ability to read blue prints and technical drawings

  • Ability to complete technical reports and or process documentation as required

  • Must be detail oriented and demonstrate sound mechanical aptitude

  • Problem solving skills, , and work well others on the team

  • Experience working with hand and power tools

  • US Citizenship is a bona fide requirement

Preferred Requirements:

  • 3+ years of weld fit-up or complex mechanical assembly experience in the aerospace industry

  • Must be able to work with computers

  • Has knowledge and experience with lean and 5S concepts, including application of such tools in the workplace

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to all physical aspects of the job as products can vary in size: stand, push, lift, bend, etc.

  • Ability to work in a clean room environment

Salary Range: $38,700 USD - $64,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
