The Payload and Ground Systems Division of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is seeking a Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Technician 3 for our Quality team in Commerce, CA, where we design and manufacture high performance pressure vessels for use in space applications.  The Northrop Grumman Commerce facility is the leading supplier of pressure vessels for space missions in the world.  At the facility we produce a wide variety of pressure vessels supporting a wide variety of missions, both foreign and domestic, commercial, defense, and civil space.  This position reports to the Quality Engineering Manager.

Overview:

The NDT Technician will perform non-destructive tests (NDT) on pressure vessels or components. Inspects metallic and nonmetallic materials, parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including radiography, ultrasound, dye penetrant, eddy current, laser shearography, and magnetic particle.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and four years experience of Non-Destructive Testing

  • Experience with X-ray and dye penetrant methods of testing in the aerospace or automotive industries

  • Experience testing titanium and aluminum

  • Must be willing to work any shift, overtime or non-standard work schedules

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in NDT of composite materials

  • Experience using XRF (or equivalent) hand-held scanners


Salary Range: $59,400 USD - $99,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
