Title
Associate Technical Editor and Writer
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Technical Editor and Writer to join our diverse team, working on the Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) portfolio of programs in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will support the Integration, Logistics, and Support (ILS) Team to develop and maintain FAAD Technical Manuals and Program Process Documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in documenting system software changes as it correlates to military technical manuals.
- Assist in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents.
- Closely interface with software developers and testers to document software changes
- Assist in development and maintenance of program process documentation in compliance with NG standards and procedures.
- Assist in technical manual validation and verification to include direct customer interface events.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate Technical Editor and Writer – Bachelor’s Degree in English or related discipline, or 4 years experience in lieu of degree maybe considered
- Technical Editor and Writer – Bachelor’s Degree in English or related discipline (and 3 years of relevant experience; or 1 Year with Masters) or 7 years of experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
- Experience in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents
- Experience with MS Office Products i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Able to collaborate in a team environment.
- Hold or able to obtain DoD Secret clearance
Following are good to have, but are not required:
- Possess an understanding of and ability to apply military technical order principles, concepts, practices, and standards
- Experience with XML, Arbor text and/or SGML preferred
- Process orientation and strong skills in using and following documented processes / checklists.
- Experience with creation and publication of technical documentation / collection and interpretation of technical data.
- Current active DoD Secret Clearance
