This position will be responsible for estimating material costs for manufacturing bills of material in accordance with company procedures and government requirements in support of proposals.  In addition, this position will support various functions such as price/cost analysis and subcontract compliance support for supply chain and subcontract professionals. 

Roles and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Estimate material pricing for complex manufacturing bills of material in support of proposals
  • Perform financial and proposal analysis
  • Estimates labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering requirements based on request for proposal (RFP) data submitted by prospective customers.
  • Collects cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Computes cost estimates of raw materials or subcontracted work and labor.
  • Prepares and maintains historical cost data. Creates cost models for cost estimating elements. Prepares cost reports and presents findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, price auditors, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain documentation supporting financial estimates used in the proposal process
  • Ensure management understanding of estimating and bidding issues
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and DFAR/FAR government regulations
  • Balance multiple projects and prioritize effectively to meet strict deadlines 
  • Track and understand market trends applicable to material used in solid rocket motor production
  • Develop cost and price analysis to support both proposal and procurement activity
  • Assist in training personnel in estimating and analysis techniques

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Supply Chain (or a related field) from an accredited institution with at least 6 years of related experience or Master’s degree and 4 years of related experience. 4 additional years of experience can be substituted for the bachelors degree.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and present complex information in a concise and organized format
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance. US citizenship is a prerequisite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience collaborating with technical functions or a project/program.
  • Operational knowledge of manufacturing, engineering and business environments.
  • Understanding and experience with materials and hardware used in solid rocket motors
  • Experience working with estimating systems that meet DFAR/FAR and other government regulations
  • Experience supporting estimating system audits
  • Skill set to support various tasks within the supply chain organization including proposal preparation, cost/price analysis, compliance and audit support

Salary Range: $72,400 USD - $108,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
