Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

Position is to support GBSD Program Team in Promontory Utah. Quality Manager will direct report to Sr. Quality Manager of Product Assurance who resides in Chandler AZ however will have dotted line connection to the Site Program Manager . Position will have five direct reports including quality engineers and inspectors when team is at full staff. Secret Clearance is required.

The Quality Manager will provide support for integration and testing activities on launch vehicles.  Works as a member of a primary program team to address technical issues, meet program requirements and ensure mission success. Interface with customers, vendors, and with Chandler NG Manufacturing, Integration & Test and Engineering organizations to identify and resolve integration non conformities. Provide support to program Mission Assurance Manager in review of various activities.

Job Responsibilities

1. Establishes and maintains Safety and Quality Assurance programs, procedures and controls ensuring that products and services conform to company standards of excellence.

2. Supports the development, implementation and maintenance of quality policy and procedures. Interfaces with Supplier quality engineers in the verification of product design and reliability.

3. Review practices, procedures and processes seeking avenues to improve efficiency and effectiveness and reduce risk to product quality.

4. Provide oversight in discrepancy review, failure investigations, as well as cause and corrective action determinations. Analyze and interpret trends and executes improvements on key metrics.

5. Reviews and approves drawings, standards, Acceptance Test Plans, and specifications for Integration Quality.

6. Performs Root Cause and Problem Solving projects.

7. Responsible for managing the accuracy of As Built As Design Traceability

8. Responsible for managing and executing First Article Inspections per AS9100 requirements.

9. Responsible for administration and training of Non Conformances and Corrective Actions.

10. Actively participate in daily Metric meetings that discuss Safety, Quality, Delivery, Employee issues and Cost.

Education and Experience

Requires BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or other related degree with minimum of 9 years experience or Masters in Engineering & 5 years or PhD & 2 years.

Other Requirements:

MUST HAVE A SECRET CLEARANCE

Able to read engineering documentation and inspect drawings and parts lists, inspection plans, and supplemental instructions. Knowledge of GD&T principles.  Extensive knowledge base in Cause Analysis tools, such as Ishikawa, FMEA, DOE, etc.

Previous experience managing elements of AS/ISO/CMMI certified internal and external

organization.  Knowing TipQA and Costpoint a plus.

Must be willing and able to travel 10-20% of time (main location being Promontory Utah and other field locations).

Ability to adjust to ever changing schedules/technical issues will be expected.

Salary Range: $85,400 USD - $128,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
