Northrop Grumman, Propulsion Systems, is currently seeking an experience HVAC Control Systems Engineer to support our Facilities Engineering organization.  This position will be located at Promontory Utah.

Position Description:

  • Work on a building heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration control systems. HVAC control systems are usually computerized and networked throughout the facility into a central command point.

  • Design, implement, modify and maintain these control systems.

  • Work directly with customers to develop new or replacement HVAC control systems, troubleshoot problems, advise on repairs, or train customers on how to use their HVAC system controls.

  • Work with IT to network the controls and provide alarm feedback via emails and text messaging. 

  • Knowledgeable of DDC (Tridium / Niagara) software & applications to be responsible for the design, specifying, programming, graphics design, support, drawing as-builts, supervision and training of plantwide HVAC controls.  

  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems and DDC electrical control systems.

  • Experience designing and preparing the engineering documents for control system hardware in large scale commercial project environments in accordance with overall project engineering and architectural requirements. 

  • Diversity of control system knowledge strongly desired Delta, Johnson Controls, MCS, Siemens and Niagara environment expertise. 

  • Excellent AutoCAD software design skills and overall knowledge of facility mechanical, electrical and building automation systems.

  • Complex facility experience such as commercial administration buildings, Hi-Tech Manufacturing and Data Center system controls.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering plus 5 years’ experience.

    • Position may be filled at a higher level requiring a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering plus 9 years’ experience.

Preferred skills:

  • HVAC refrigeration experience and/or an innate knowledge

  • Proficient knowledge of electrical equipment and schematics

  • Computer skills, AutoCAD software, networking

  • Management skills and good communication skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot (complex) machine control systems

  • Retrofit obsolete HVAC components and systems

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Working on equipment, including climbing ladders to access equipment on roofs in all weather.


Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $106,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
