Northrop Grumman Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

NG Space Systems – Propulsion Systems is currently seeking a Supply Chain Procurement Specialist for our Supply Chain Management’s Subsystems, Direct Services & Labor team supporting several locations within Propulsion Systems but home location would be the Promontory (Brigham),

Role description & Responsibilities:

Sources and procures goods and services of a category nature from many suppliers.

Initiates Requests for Quotations and Proposals and receives same, analyzing proposed pricing from potential suppliers.

Establishes agreements with suppliers using a mix of contract types including firm fixed price and cost reimbursable.   

In conjunction with integrated product teams (IPT) including program management, engineering, and quality, evaluates and monitors supplier performance including quality, reliability, and delivery.

Works with internal customers to ensure specifications are appropriate for the services or products required.

Identifies opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency and manage risk through targeted negotiations.

Issues purchase orders.

Manages performance of purchase orders, ensures compliance with all public law requirements as well as company (and business) principals and operating procedures including import/export regulations.

Employs sound business practices and assesses supplier performance as part of follow-up activities.

Ensures that appropriate documentation is provided to logistics/transportation & warehouse organization so that proper receipt is recorded.

Reviews supplier invoice for accuracy and approves payment as needed.

Utilizes process tools such as Lean Six Sigma with suppliers to drive quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Expertise using the Microsoft Office Suite, experience using EPR/MRP systems, and familiarity with Shared Information/Data Systems.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year university. Degree in supply chain management, business, finance or related field preferred

3+ years’ experience in purchasing, sales, or contracts. 4 additional years of work experience in lieu of 4 year degree

Preferred Experience Requirements:  

Experience procuring direct labor and services, electronics, cable harnesses, complex components, sub-assemblies, and major subsystems.

Experience writing and negotiating Long Term Agreements

Experience negotiating Terms and Conditions

Ability to read technical drawings and requirement documents

Knowledge of government contracting requirements and regulations (e.g. FAR, DFARS, ITAR, etc.)

Salary Range: $58,800 USD - $88,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
