Adaptive Optics Associates – Xinetics (AOA Xinetics), a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) Business Venture, is currently seeking a Principal Engineer Supplier Quality to support Mission/Quality Assurance activities in Devens MA.

Overview

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Principal Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer will ensure Customer and Program Requirements, Supplier/Subcontractor Performance meet and or exceed Business Requirements and are Satisfactory to Customer ExpectationsThe ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical expertise and collaborative people skills with a proven ability to work within a technically dynamic, high-growth, fast-paced, precision orientated and strategically important business unit for NGSP.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a Supplier/Subcontractor Quality Surveillance and Engagement Plan in accordance with AOX’s Quality First Organizational Goals

  • Perform Specification Compliance Reviews, First Article Verification, Source Verification for Process and Product, Effectively Flow –Down Specification Requirements, Review Technical and subsequently translate into Manufacturing Schemes, etc.

  • Initiate Supplier Corrective Action as necessary and ensure effective implementation

  • Work with manufacturing and engineering personnel to identify root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented

  • Perform process and product audits along with capacity assessments to ensure the supplier's processes are robust and capable

  • Manage Strategic Suppliers to ensure they are performing at and or exceeding stipulated Business requirements, including identification and implementation of opportunities for improvement

  • Institute a strict culture of Risk Mitigation at all levels of your ROLE

  • Provide project management guidance and support to projects and processes

  • Establish positive working relationships with Suppliers and internal teams

  • Execute other assignments based on Business needs

  • Apply AS9100 requirements at all levels of your activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Material Science or STEM discipline

  • 8+ years relevant experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing and/or Design Engineering

  • Outstanding Relationship Management and People skills

  • Exceptional  Supplier Sourcing experience

  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and application of QMS tools

  • In-depth Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA),Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Experience using basic Quality verification instruments, tools and methodologies

  • Ability to interpret blue prints/diagrams

  • Experience in applying RCCA to resolve problems

  • In-depth knowledge  of Lean Six Sigma methodologies with emphasis on variation reduction

  • Exceptional Project Management skills with proven ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong acumen in applying quantitative and qualitative methods to achieve results

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, VISIO, MS-Project, Mini-Tab or similar software applications

  • U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for employment at AOX/NGSS

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering [Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial], Material Science or STEM discipline

  • 5+ years expertise experience in Quality Assurance

  • NASA Quality and Mission Assurance Provisions

  • Senior Quality Lead or Quality Supervisory experience

  • ASQ Certification(s) or Equivalent Quality Certification(s)

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification

  • DoD/Defense Contractor Industry experience (e.g. Aerospace/Space/Defense/Mission)

  • Knowledge of manufacturing products using applied materials, optics, optical components, adaptive optics, deformable mirrors, PCBs, nondestructive testing and assembly of small to large precision devices

Physical Requirements:

  • Position is located in Devens MA and may require travel/on-site support in our East Hartford facility

  • Domestic/international travel required 10 - 25% of the time (contingent to CDC Travel Guidelines due to Covid-19)

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time

  • Ability to lift 50lbs


Salary Range: 92200 - 138400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
