Northrop Grumman Space has an opening for Director 1 – Strategy and Capture Excellence to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Dulles, VA, however open to any of the following: Chandler/Gilbert, Arizona, Huntsville, AL, Baltimore, MD, and Los Angeles CA (or other major NG sites. As a member of our Space Sector Business Development team, you will lead capture and business development for our Sector Priority Win (SPW) programs.  Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead capture activities for space programs including pipeline management and growth and customer engagement.

  • Simultaneously lead multiple opportunity pursuits and be capable of transitioning an opportunity from assessment through pursuit and contract award.

  • Focus on the upfront Business Acquisition Phases (BAP)  0-3 (early positioning through pursuit/bid gate) of the SPWs and the NG Space Sector “Big Rocks”

  • Develop shaping strategies and win strategies for SPWs

  • Help lead and support advocacy councils led by Corporate Government Relations, Drive closure on advocacy plans and actions.

  • Flow insights from customer engagements and stakeholders into capture and shaping strategy

  • Support proposal development including managing process, writing proposal responses, and developing pricing.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with line of business management, strategy, business and finance, contracts and global supply chain, technology and engineering offices and functions.

In this role you will:

  • Assist in the analysis of the competitive landscape, NG’s capabilities, and business constraints to determine, document, and communicate the best strategy to meet the organization’s capture objectives.

  • Lead or oversee the identification, shaping, and tracking of program opportunities and the development, documentation, communication, and execution of capture strategies and plans.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.

  • 15 years of experience in Aerospace & Defense.

  • 10 years of experience with government contracting and acquisitions.

  • 5 years of experience successfully leading/managing a team.

  • Experience leading engagements with government customers for the purpose of business development.

  • Experience leading a proposal or being a senior leader in a large proposal.

  • Active Top Secret and/or SCI Clearance or ability to obtain TS/SCI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or MBA

  • Knowledge of and relationships with key space customers in the Department of Defense, National Security, and Civilian communities

  • Experience with the DOD and National Security acquisition processes including supporting processes such as requirements development and budgeting

  • Technical fluency. Ability to understand and engage in discussion about space-based mission capability, system architecture, and technology. 5+ years developing, maintaining, and executing strategic plans.

  • Experience with capture execution (Customer Funding and Budgeting, Industry Days/RFIs/RFPs, Proposals, Source Selection, etc.)

  • Knowledge of and experience with the Northrop Grumman BAP

Salary Range: $198,200 USD - $297,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
