Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS) Sector designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. As a division of NGSS, our Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD) designs, manufactures and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration and national security space applications. TSSD is a leading supplier of space hardware that powers and enables satellites of all classes, provides technical engineering services to government agencies and laboratories, and is developing exciting new satellite servicing and advanced space flight technologies.

Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems Division is looking for an Integration & Test Engineering Manager 3 for our Dulles, VA Satellite Manufacturing Facility.  This Department Manager role will lead a department of over 100 Electronics and RF Engineers and Technicians responsible for the integration and testing of Space Flight Hardware, in support of both commercial and government programs, to include test planning, development and execution.

This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics, integrity, inclusion and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Perform resource planning and staffing to meet program demands.
  • Leads efforts around employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development.
  • Develops the team's capabilities in Operation Excellence, Software Scripting, Test Engineering, Test Execution and Implementation of Process Improvements.
  • Provides Leadership for the technical direction of the Electrical and RF Test Areas for Satellite Integration and Test.
  • Coordinates with Program Management, Development Engineering, Operation Areas, and Manufacturing Management to ensure plans are created and resolve technical issues.
  • Accountability for and tracking of department overhead budgets.
  • Performance Review and Compensation planning for both Direct and Indirect reports in the Department.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Acts with agility to business needs and interacts in a collaborative way to motivate diverse, cross functional teams, including both internal and external members, to achieve positive business results, including operating decisions, scheduling requirements and contractual clarification.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 10+ years of experience in Test and Integration OR Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 7+ years of experience in Test and Integration.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access.
  • Must be able to work full time on-site in Dulles, VA
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success collaborating and leading technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in STEM discipline.
  • Experience working in a Test Engineering Environment with an emphasis in Electrical or RF Engineering
  • Strong orientation to change in a dynamic test environment
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Extensive experience within Integration & Test organizations
  • Experience leading cross-functional organizations
  • Demonstrated experience in ERP, MES, Lean Manufacturing and/or 5S type programs

Salary Range: $176,636 USD - $223,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
