Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems Division designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

This is a Mechanical Engineering position supporting propulsion subsystem testing and fueling operations. This position requires the candidate to work independently with minimal guidance from management to perform general task completions, supporting testing operations, support fueling operations and launch campaigns, assemble and maintain propulsion equipment, review test and fueling procedures, and troubleshoot test failures and technical issues.

Principle and/or Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer, Spacecraft (S/C) pneumatics test lead, launch operations propellant loading support/lead, GSE design/maintenance, some travel required (domestic and foreign)

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Qualifications:

This position may be filled at either a Principal level or Sr. Principal level.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Mechanical Engineer 3:

  • BS Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with 5 Years of experience; 3 Years of experience with Masters; 0 Years with PhD

  • Experience with testing bipropellant and monopropellant propulsion systems

  • Leading hypergol propellant loading operations including N2O4 oxidizers and hydrazine and/or derivatives including generating propellant loading operations procedures, participating in SCAPE operations, and maintaining propellant loading GSE.

  • Generating pneumatic test procedures and operating pneumatic test panels

  • Generating hypergol propellant loading operations procedures and operating same GSE.

  • Experience working with launch site range safety requirements

  • Ability to prepare and review technical presentations using MS office products.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications for Principal Mechanical Engineer 3

  • Experience designing and building GSE related to pneumatics test and/or propellant loading operations

  • Working knowledge/ experience with launch site facility safety standards and operational requirements

  • TS Clearance

  • BS Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with 9 Years of experience; 7 Years of experience with Masters; 4 Years with PhD

  • Experience with testing bipropellant and monopropellant propulsion systems

  • Leading hypergol propellant loading operations including N2O4 oxidizers and hydrazine and/or derivatives including generating propellant loading operations procedures, participating in SCAPE operations, and maintaining propellant loading GSE.

Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
