This position will work in a technical role for a space program in Dulles VA, in the NSS business area within the Space Systems Sector. The engineer in this position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the design and integration of complex electronic systems into space platforms.

Successful candidates will be familiar with RF propagation theory and waveforms and should have a demonstrated knowledge of standard interface protocols, modulation techniques, attenuation modeling, antenna design/selection, data links, cellular, etc.  Experience should include design, analysis, integration, and test of RF systems and firmware.  Candidates should have experience calculating RF link budgets, defining RF interfaces, and specifying RF components for end to end RF distribution.

Other duties include performing systems analysis and trades, participating in design reviews and system documentation, engineering baseline management, interface management, requirements/V&V management, preparing/presenting SE material at all major reviews and PMR’s, mission support, and traditional Systems Engineering functions.

The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers in a fast paced development environment to achieve the goals of the program team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Systems Engineer 4 - Bachelor’s Degree in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 9+ years of experience, Master’s Degree and 7+ years of experience; or a PhD and 4+ years of experience.                                     

  • 3 + years RF system design, integration and test, or analysis experience

  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with active or current Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering leadership experience

  • Experience with cryptographic equipment (datalink/network encryptors)

Salary Range: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
