Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Manager, DevOps 2 to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals within the Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD) in the Software Digital Transformation organization. This position will be located in Dulles, VA or Gilbert, AZ; however, we will consider virtual telecommuting candidates.


The Software Digital Transformation organization is focused on supporting Agile and DevOps transformation throughout the division. The team consists of multiple Agile and DevOps SMEs dedicated to supporting organizational and programmatic change, as well as being the functional home room for Agile and DevOps engineers.

In this role, you will be responsible for the functional management of a small and growing team of DevOps Engineer specialties (Site Reliability Engineers, Automation Engineers, Developers, Cyber Engineers, System Administrators, etc.) assigned to programs within Tactical Space Systems Division.

Management duties include:

  • Conducting performance assessments and
  • Employee development
  • Staffing
  • Communication meetings
  • Disciplinary actions
  • Compensation adjustments
  • Training
  • Educational oversight and approval
  • Routine personnel issues

Management duties are expected to constitute 20% of your time, with the remaining 80% spent on other technical activities.  These other technical activities may include DevOps Support, Project Management Support on ~$2m/year efforts, or direct program support depending on your skills and organizational need.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other applicable STEM discipline
  • Familiarity and/or Experience with DevOps Tools, Processes, and Concepts
  • Minimum of 3 years of technical leadership or management experience leading a team of 5+ employees
  • Experience managing and executing various kinds of projects and products
  • US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM discipline
  • Experience with transitioning teams to DevOps practices and activities
  • Experience with Agile Development or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience with Agile Coaching, and/or Agile Certifications
  • Experience participating in or implementing Program Increment activities
  • Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM)
  • Experience in broad organizational change and transformation activities with concentration in the development of strategies, roadmaps, integration, implementation, and/or operations of complex, large-scale information systems and technologies
  • Previous experience in any of the following leadership areas: engineering functional management; experience leading a team of 5+ employees with a record of on-time performance; ability to build, adjust, or maintain diverse/inclusive teams with engaged team members; advanced technical management degree(s) or certification(s)
  • Active TS/SCI

Salary Range: $123,900 USD - $185,900 USD
Salary Range 2: $143,500 USD - $215,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
