Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical role for the National Security Systems (NSS) business area. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting, cutting-edge programs and new mission areas. The program will be based in Dulles VA location and may require some travel.

You’ll have the opportunity to support a wide range of program types: small mission/concept studies, medium-sized technology demonstration programs, and large-scale national system programs.

Our NSS programs include technical roles at the mission, segment, subsystem and component level. It also spans the entire program life cycle from early concept studies, design development, system integration/test, launch and early ops, mission ops/sustainment and system disposal.

Summary:

Duties include significant contributions to mission systems engineering activities. This may include system modeling and simulation, mission analysis, mission planning, mission ops support, developing engineering reports from advanced studies, special engineering investigations, systems integration/interfaces, requirements/V&V, and occasional Business Development support and similar activities. The candidate should be knowledgeable in system-of-systems engineering, space vehicle design and operations, ground segments, segment interfaces, payloads, and/or mission operations. Advanced analyses capability relating to complex mission problems may be required, as is the ability to develop and support home-grown mission analysis tools. The role will include interface with clients, as well as regular interactions with internal engineering associates and program management. Candidate may be called on to assist in new business activities such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies, and may include authoring sections for both.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related STEM Science Technology Engineering Math discipline or Masters Degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with a current or active Top Secret level clearance, SCI eligible.
  • Ability to work within a group of diversified individuals with varying backgrounds to achieve mission success.
  • Prior experience conducting on-orbit mission operations.
  • Experience writing technical documents for external customers
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, including ability to make persuasive presentations to external customers at milestone reviews

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Maintain standards associated with the established Integrated/Developmental Operations functional group processes.
  • Support internal and external customer meetings through proficient verbal and documented (MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel) communications.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Ability Use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Ability to task and manage a group of diversified individuals with varying backgrounds to achieve mission success.

Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
