The company seeks a Corporate Counsel supporting its Space Systems sector.  Northrop Grumman Space Systems is an industry leading provider of end-to-end space and launch systems and capabilities serving national security, civil and commercial customers.

 

The Corporate Counsel will serve as the lead in-house lawyer for a business unit within Space Systems, assisting and counseling on matters associated with the pursuit, capture, and execution of US Government, international and commercial transactions.  In addition to the provision of counsel directly to executives and other business partners, responsibilities include coordinating with various legal specialists inside the company to support litigation and internal investigations, as well as intellectual property, export, employment and other matters impacting the business.  

 

Succeeding in this fast-paced environment requires superb problem-solving skills, sound judgement and discretion, the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively, a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, ownership of results and the highest standards of integrity and ethics.  The position reports to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel for Northrop Grumman Space Systems and will be located in Dulles, Virginia.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

·       J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school.

·       Member of the State Bar in the applicable location, capable of being licensed through testing or comity, or, in lieu of licensure, capable of registering as an in-house counsel in accordance with the rules of the applicable State Bar.

·       Strong academic credentials, and the highest level of integrity and ethics. 

·       6 or more years of relevant experience at one or more top law firms, government agencies and/or in-house legal departments. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·       Experience with contracting and subcontracting in support of U.S. Government programs and/or with complex commercial transactions.

·       Excellence in analyzing legal concepts and ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, including all levels within the organization, from executive leadership to first-line supervisors, customer representatives and attorneys, and all levels of Government agency personnel.

·       Ability to provide accurate, timely and pragmatic advice.

·       Ability to promote and contribute to a collaborative team environment that encourages and supports inclusion to drive innovation and reach the best solutions to complex problems.

·       Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to balance multiple competing priorities.

·       Ability to direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.

·       Proven success leading teams and driving for results in a matrixed organization.

·       An active U.S. security clearance at the Secret level or higher, or the ability to obtain such.


Salary Range: $209,700 USD - $301,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
