The Consulting Engineer Information Assurance (Sr Staff Cyber Systems Engineer) will support Research & Development (R&D) efforts to enhance Cyber hardening of advanced spacecraft and complex space architectures.  Candidate should be prepared to apply systems security engineering techniques across large Space Programs, with responsibilities across Space Segments, Communications Segments, and Ground Segments.  This senior candidate must exercise demonstrable knowledge in security architectures as may be applied to complex space system architectures.  Experience leading IRaD teams towards developing secured weapons systems or other complex, engineered solutions requiring large integrated product teams is a key consideration.
  • Working as part of an integrated product team (IPT) to architect advanced space solutions that have security built-in.  All aspects of the program, across all segments and down to the lowest elements must be considered within scope of the security hardening efforts required for this R&D project.
  • Candidate must be familiar with the messaging protocols and the OSI model.  Development of ICDs and other engineering artifacts is essential.
  • Candidate must be highly familiar with variations of the NIST 800-37 Risk Management Framework (RMF) and related publications and understand the objectives of CyberResilience and CyberSurvivability initiatives.  Applying these to non-traditional-IT systems, such as Weapons Systems or Platform IT, is required for this effort.
  • System Security Engineering requirements management in support of early program protection requirements, working with systems engineers to decompose system-level security requirements across the segments and down to specific components, across disciplines Anti-Tamper, TEMPEST, Cybersecurity (RMF), and cryptographic component integration/development.
  • Leading engineering teams in the execution of all system security engineering development efforts, including but not limited to Attack Surface Analysis (ASA), Threat-based Risk Analysis, Flight Software Static Code Analysis, Ground Software Static & Dynamic Analysis, Supply Chain Risk Management, Trusted Component Analysis.
  • Leading engineering teams through developmental testing aligned with the overall systems engineering effort’s Verification and Validation plans.  This must include ensuring all teams implement positive & negative testing, fuzzing of inputs at all interface points, and penetration testing at critical developmental milestones.
  • Leading teams in preparation of Systems Security Plans (SSP) documentation for complex space systems, including Security Control Traceability Matrices (SCTM) and Security Assessment Plans/Reports.
  • Preparing and Executing assessment procedures to verify conformance with objective metrics, as required based on the specified customer/system requirements.
  • Performing systems engineering, integration, and test activities for security-critical components, such as Cross Domain Solutions, cryptographic devices, and controlled interfaces.
  • Supporting the engineering team through all developmental review milestones is required.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering or Computer Science & 15 years experience in ITSecurity (cybersecurity) Field. Experience with communications protocols and the OSI model Must have U.S. Citizenship with a current or active Top Secret level security clearance. CISSP Certification
