Northrop Grumman is seeking an Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  This position will be located in Dulles, VA. Transforming the future of technology…The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Group, working to applying mechanical and manufacturing engineering knowledge to improve the capability and capacity of the work done at the mechanical work center, which supports spacecraft integrations. Roles and Responsibilities:
       • Assisting in the selection, installation, and creation of training manuals and work instructions for
new equipment, such as additive manufacturing, lasercutting, and CNC machines
       • Operate and manage new machinery (lasercutting, additive manufacturing, vinyl plotting, etc.) as an engineering technician on work orders
       • Checking and updating prior and new work instructions
       • Seek and amend instructions to get approval from quality, mechanical, and reliability engineers
       • Interface with other engineers to optimize and promote new manufacturing techniques
       • Serve as a liason to translate instructions and needs between management, engineers, and technicians
       • Amplify production throughput by improving existing processes
       • Serve as a primary technician to operate advanced machinery and to prototype and test new manufacturing workflows
       • Perform technical assembly or machining for work orders as needed
       • Logging and signing all necessary work order operations as required
       • Willing to work no earlier than 9AM and available late evenings on occasion for hot jobs

Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline or Manufacturing 
  • 3 years combined experience in a prototyping, development, and/or manufacturing production environments
       •  3 years Hand-on technical experience with production assembly, metal machining, working with composites, CNC or manual mill/lathe work, and/or additive manufacturing
      
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
       •  Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar field
       •  Ability to review 3D designs, model designs, and operate CAM software to create toolpaths
       •  Experience with data entry, rapidly changing software requirements, and documentation in manufacturing execution systems.
       •  Willingness and capability to learn new tools such as laser cutting, vinyl plotter, grit-blasting, and 3D printing
       •  Willing to work no earlier than 9AM and available late evenings on occasion for hot jobs
