The Northrop Grumman Space Systems business is growing rapidly, and we have opportunities on exciting, cutting-edge missions and programs that will accelerate your technical career. Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical role for the National Security Systems (NSS) business area. Our NSS programs include technical roles at the mission, segment, subsystem and component level. They span the entire program life cycle from early concept studies, design development, system integration/test, launch and early ops, mission ops/sustainment and system disposal. The position is based in NG’s Dulles VA location and will require some travel. Duties include significant contributions to mission and space vehicle systems engineering activities: requirement analysis and functional decomposition, system modeling and simulation, mission analysis, mission operations support, conceptual, preliminary and detailed system and space vehicle design, trade studies, systems integration and test, system interface definition and management, requirements/V&V, and Business Development support. This position is to serve as the Space Systems Architect for an international GEO Satellite Communications program. The architect will guide the technical team on overall space systems design for a next generation military satellite communications satellite. The candidate should be knowledgeable in system-of-systems engineering, space vehicle design and integration, ground segment design and integration, segment and subsystem interfaces, payloads, and/or mission operations. Advanced analyses capability relating to complex mission problems is a plus, as is the ability to develop and evolve home-grown mission analysis tools. The role will include interface with clients, as well as regular interactions with internal engineering teammates and program management. The candidate may be called on to assist in new business activities such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies. NoVASpace

Basic Qualifications • Bachelors degree or higher in STEM Science Technology Engineering Math or related technical field, and 12 or more years of applicable experience, or a Masters Degree and 10 or more years of applicable experience • Experience leading, supporting and operating GEOStar-2/3 or GEO Communications space vehicles and missions for 5+ years • 10 years space systems development experience • Experience with GEO Satellite communications design, integration and test, or operations • Experience leading a technical team through the development lifecycle • Ability to work with others from engineering and non-engineering disciplines in a fast-paced team environment • Experience presenting to or interacting with senior technical staff, program management and customers • Ability to travel 10% both domestic and international • Must have U.S.Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Top Secret level security clearance Preferred Qualifications: •Experience in systems engineering and integration of complex systems, especially space systems design, development, manufacture, test and/or operations. • Experience with leading teams in development of production of RF systems •Existing Top Secret level security clearance
