The NASA Range Hawk Program Flight Test Program is looking for an Avionics Flight Test Engineer in the Flight Test IPT.  The position would require the candidate to get familiar with the aircraft avionics suite and assist in maintaining and troubleshooting avionics systems.  This role will qualify as a Test Conductor/Mission director and should have general electrical and aircraft wiring familiarity, avionics testing and troubleshooting, and support lab testing of equipment and LRUs.  The position will be based at Edwards AFB, CA. at NASA AFRC.

Assist in the development and maintenance of test plans, test schedules/procedures for development, pre-production, and flight testing.  Interface with internal and external organizations to develop test and test data requirements.  Specify air vehicle system configurations and coordinate test planning activity with flight test operations, instrumentation, and responsible engineers.  Identify and coordinate the availability of test resources and with senior Flight Test Engineers.  Participate in test planning working groups; assist with the planning and conducting of flight test readiness reviews, and flight testing including pre and post-test briefings.  Schedule and assist with conducting ground and flight tests. Participate in post-test data evaluation and discrepancy resolution.  Prepare and publish test summaries, test cards and test reports.  Compile flight/ground test data and define changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. 

This position requires excellent communication skills, must work well in a team environment, and must work independently to solve a variety of complex problems.  Limited travel may be required.  

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS STEM Degree with 2 years of aerospace experience, or 1 years experience with a MS STEM Degree.
  • This position requires an Active in scope DoD Secret security clearance
  • Must have general electrical and aircraft wiring knowledge, avionics testing and troubleshooting, and support lab testing of equipment and LRUs
  • Occasional short term travel to off-site locations required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Global Hawk platform
  • Experience with control room equipment and set up is a plus

Salary Range: 74200 - 111400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
