Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Specialty Test Equipment Tooling Manager 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA. The selected candidate has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for leading the Specialty Test Equipment Tooling function for a restricted access program. The selected candidate will manage a team of Tool Crib Attendants whose responsibilities include:

  • Managing Standard Tooling kits and Specialty Test Equipment kits for the production test team.
  • Manage calibration requirements for all Tools.
  • Manage capital assets owned by the organization.
  • Support Factory Accountability requirements for all Tools.
  • Provide Standard Tool equipment and support on-site repair and preventive maintenance plans.
  • Fabricate Specialty Test Equipment.

Essential Management Functions:

  • Provides direction and coaching to Tool Crib Attendants.
  • Ensures team members receive the required training and prepares the daily work plans in support of overall program objectives.
  • Encourages and provides direction for career development of employees, including educational options for highly motivated employees.
  • Provides leadership/direction to ensure all affordability initiatives and opportunities for process improvements are systematically identified, pursued, and supported.
  • Ensure that all DCMA Instruction 8210 requirements are complied with including Tool Control and Foreign Object Elimination programs.
  • The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.

The selected Candidate must be able to work multiple shifts: 4x10 schedule (Mon-Thurs) 1st shift; 4X10 (Mon-Thurs) 2nd shift; 3x10 schedule (Fri, Sa, Su) 2nd shift.  3x10 schedule (Fri, Sa, Su) 1st shift. 

Selected Candidate must create, publish, implement, and manage DCMA 8210 compliant processes such as, but not limited to: Master equipment inventory and status, predictive equipment calibration management, equipment checkout and inspection, and equipment and consumables procurement and management.

Selected Candidate must be willing to work Palmdale/Edwards locations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma /equivalent with 7 years’ experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, maintenance and/or related environment or a BS Degree and 3 years of similar experience
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that was granted or renewed within the last 6 years or is currently enrolled in continuous evaluation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs. Experience working with tool kitting and crib inventory
  • Firm understanding of Tooling and Factory Accountability requirements and process adherence
  • 1 year of experience in a leadership, supervisory and/or management role
  • Prior experience with DCMA 8210 requirements including the performance of self-inspections and audit preparation.
  • Must be available to work any shift
  • Must be willing to work at Palmdale/Edwards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience working with CribMaster or similar
  • Leadership experience in aerospace or a related industry
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and the ability to effectively communicate with various levels of leadership

Salary Range: $108,700 USD - $163,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
